This year’s Round Hayling Race will be on Sunday 17th June. This is a Cutter’s hosted event and it would be good to have as many members as possible, either rowing and/or helping with refreshments and greeting rowers from other clubs.
The race is a tough 13 miles and involves rowing the coastal stretch along Hayling seafront. If the weather makes this unsafe, an alternate course within the harbour will be raced.
This is a good opportunity for GRR crews (to be announced imminently) to get in some early competitive rowing.
The number of spaces for rowers is limited this year but every effort will be made to find a seat for everyone who wishes to take part.
The preceding day is the Gig club regatta and any help in setting up on the Saturday morning will be gratefully received. We will look to take some of our boats in to the middle of the Gig racing course on the Saturday to watch the action close up.
We are responsible for selling cakes and teas/coffees on the Sunday. The Gig club will be running a BBQ. Frances will be organising our catering and it would be good if we could all bring cakes along to sell.
We will need to help after the event to clear up and take down gazebos, etc.
Please post if you would like to enter the race or if you would like to help with refreshments.

May I be the first to post, with a plea for help with Refreshments, please. ......
We're expecting some 100 or so rowers and spectators, so let's show them all how great we are, not only at Rowing, but also at Hosting what's going to be a really fun day. Come and be part of this colourful and exciting spectacle, whether bending an oar or not.
We'll be there, at the Northney foreshore, from 8am to 5ish, supplying teas, coffees and cakes throughout the day for racers, spectators, friends and family, so offers of help for a couple of hours or so, to man the stall, sell and serve, wash up cups, and be friendly hosts would be much appreciated. It's a great way to be part of the day, cheer on the boats, and pick up on the fun atmosphere.
I'll begin with a request to all of those bakers amongst our number - we're going to need a lot!! Last year, there appeared to be a taste preference by the sportsmen for the more sustaining variety of cakes, such as fruit, malt loaf, flapjacks, ginger, brownies, but please, all your baking will be really well received.
We may also need to ask to borrow cool boxes too.
Please sign below to help, indicating cake making intentions and your willingness to help with serving on the day. More details to follow as soon as known...Thank you, Frances

Hi Dave
Andy is signing up to row, but I won't be. I'm not a baker, but I am happy to (wo)man the refreshments stall for the time he's busy exerting himself!

Any more takers for our own club's race? We still have some spaces to fill.
Please post if you are interested and have not yet signed up.
We have at least two Solent Galleys, and possibly a third, from other clubs to race against, as well as some Cornish Pilot Gigs and Bursledon Gigs.
Cheers
Dave
