Mid-week row on Tuesday to Portsmouth Harbour

Chris Partridge
Administrator
On Tuesday I would like to fulfil a long-standing plan and meet one of the Solent Galleys of the Pat Sherwin Trust on Portsmouth Harbour. On Tuesday they will be rowing to Salt Cafe at Wicor Marine, arriving at about 10.15, so I propose we tow to Portchester Castle and launch there. Salt Cafe has good food so we can look on it as a late breakfast or an early lunch.
The forecast for Tuesday is for sun and perhaps a bit of a breeze. HW is 11.20.
The itinerary is:
08.00.  Meet boat park.
08.30.  Depart Langstone
09.30.  Launch Portchester
13.00.  Depart Portchester
We should be done by about 14.00.

A great row in fabulous sun and light breezes. Langstone Lady was loaded onto the single trailer at 08.00 and Mike towed her to Portchester where we launched. Andrew coxed the first leg along the north shore of Portsmouth harbour. Chris coxed the second half to Wicor Marine where we met Solent Galley Joyce, rowed by the Solent Shovellers. Brunch, after which we followed Joyce towards Portsmouth, turning towards Portchester at the mothballed ships. Recovered at 13.00, arrived back at Langstone 14.00 without incident.
Pin money: £2 each except for Mike, so total of £10.
