CANCELLED due to heavy rain forecasted. Dawn Row & Seal watching 07.00 until 10.00
This post was updated on .
We have been unable to fill a second galley alas and taking crew into account and the weather forecast, I am not prepared to take a Teifi as they offer little protection to the elements and the crew would likely get soaked. The met office is suggesting that there is a 50 per % risk of rain around 09.00. The rain is coming through in showers and should not be prolonged , so I am 100% happy to go, as the tide is a very small one and hopefully will give us a chance to see a seal or two hauled out in the gully on the mud.
In fairness we have to stick with the original six on a first signed up first served basis. I have popped you down as reserve Lesley, in case anyone drops out. Sorry Mike, look forward to seeing you next time.
See you at 07.00 and Please bring your waterproof tops etc.
Galley One: FULL
Madness has suddenly gripped my mind into thinking that a dawn row would be lovely at this time of year.
So if anyone fances a three hour row down Chichester harbour and back, the plan is to check out the seals in their gully on the way down to Verner and maybe a little further depending on time.
It is a very small neap tide on Saturday morning and high tide is predicted as being 08.02 at Northney.
Accordingly, we will be making sure that we are back running up the home channel by 09.45 to recover the boats around 10.00.
As their is little time and water to work with, I am not planning on taking a Claydon.
The light is stunning at this time of year and what better place to watch the sun rise other than the Mill?
Sun rise is at 07.02
You may also get some very cool pics of Seals as they come to the end of their annual moult.
Please sign up in the usual way.
NOTES TO SELF: Grab Bags & Radios / Walkie Talkies.
I'm up for the second Galley a) if we go and b) there are enough rowers !
Unfortunately I think I would spoil it for others if I went in a Teifi - my last outing wasn't entirely successful , I think I need more Sunday practise. So if you're full with a galley and a Teifi don't worry about me.
I'll look at my phone to see whats happening tonight and when I wake tomorrow so you can hold off a decision until the last moment . Please don't ask others to go in the Teffi to make room for me if they are uncomfortable with it - I'll stay in bed!
